Matthew T. Allen

Matt joined AmCap in 2011 and, with over ten years of experience in the real estate industry, leads asset management for all new acquisitions and serves as a member of the firm’s Investment Committee. Prior to AmCap, Matt began his professional career with Genetech before holding progressively responsible positions in acquisitions and asset management with the Ashforth Company, Antares Real Estate Partners, Commonfund Realty, and Davis Marcus Partners.

Matt received his Master of Business Administration from Dartmouth, a Master of Science in Civil/Environmental Engineering from Tufts University, and a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from the University of New Hampshire.

Jake joined AmCap in 2005 and heads the company’s day-to-day activities as President and Chief Investment Officer. He is a member of the firm’s Investment Committee. Jake’s tenure in the real estate industry spans nearly two decades, and he has handled more than $2 billion worth of real estate transactions during his career. Prior to AmCap, he worked at Vornado Realty Trust in Acquisitions & Capital Markets, focusing on equity and mezzanine loan real estate investments in retail, office, and hotel.

Jake received his Master of Business Administration from Harvard and graduated summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Wisconsin.

George Chaparro

George joined AmCap in 1989 and, along with being the company’s Controller, manages accounting, budgeting, and year-end preparations for AmCap’s Denver portfolio. Previously, George worked at Citibank in Corporate Accounting and at the Bellet Company in its accounting department.

George holds a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science with a minor in Accounting from Iona College.

Tina joined AmCap in 2001 and is the Property Manager for the AppleTree Business Park, a 450,000 square foot center located in Buffalo, NY. She handles day-to-day operations and all tenant and capital improvements. 

Tina has an applied science degree in electrical technology from Niagara Community College and has earned her RPA through BOMA International, where she has served as a past President. Tina is on the Cheektowaga Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors and is the Committee Chair for the Business and Government Committee.

James joined AmCap in April 2016 as Director of Leasing, managing leasing of the Colorado properties and assists with AmCap’s portfolio nationwide. After a decade with Tebo Properties, a Boulder, CO-based commercial real estate company where he served as Director of Leasing, Development, and Construction, James brings experience in handling all aspects of commercial real estate for a large portfolio of retail, office, and industrial properties from inception to completion. 

James graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Architecture from the University of Colorado.

Barbara joined AmCap in 2005 and is the on-site property manager at Copaco Center, located in the greater Hartford, CT area. She has actively managed the center since 1994 prior to its acquisition by AmCap, actively overseeing the day-to-day activities at the center. Barbara has additional responsibilities in accounting as a member of the corporate Accounting team.

Denise joined AmCap in 2000 and manages marketing and advertising for the AmCap portfolio, generates all leasing property brochures, leads website maintenance, and handles lease administration for four properties and the ADLP portfolio. Prior to AmCap, Denise spent 14 years with Albertson’s. 

Denise graduated from Metropolitan State College of Denver with a Bachelor of Science in Marketing and has obtained her Colorado real estate license.

Margaret joined AmCap in 1986 and currently manages all accounting, budgeting, and year-end financial reporting for three properties - AppleTree, Arbutus, and Short Pump Station. Margaret was instrumental in on-boarding AmCap’s largest acquisition – eleven King Soopers centers (the ADLP portfolio) – in addition to the coordination of several mortgage refinancings. Prior to AmCap, she was an auditor with Ernst & Young.

Margaret holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from Marymount Manhattan.

Jonathan joined AmCap in 1996 and is the Chief Financial Officer for all AmCap holdings as well as a member of the firm’s Investment Committee. Jonathan oversees portfolio-wide internal and external financial reporting, year-end audits, property closings, and manages acquisitions and dispositions, due diligence, corporate financing, banking relationships, and the firm’s information technology. In his current role, Jonathan will play an integral part in the continued growth and direction of the firm and its personnel.

Jonathan earned his Master of Business Administration from Sacred Heart University and a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting from Pace University. He is a member of the Institute of Management Accountants, ICSC, and REFA-CT, and has served on the Board of Trustees at Wooster School.

Greg joined AmCap in July 2016 as a Property Accountant and in this capacity, he handles accounting processes for twelve commercial properties nationwide. He began his career in residential real estate at Laramar Group Inc., where his duties included full cycle accounting and cash management. He later worked in commercial real estate at Matrix Group Inc. with a 22 property portfolio.

Greg graduated from the University of South Dakota and holds a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting.

Emily joined AmCap’s Denver office in January 2017 as part of the property management team responsible for nearly one million square feet in Colorado. She began her career over five years ago with Regency Centers in Houston, TX as an Administrative Assistant and worked her way up to Assistant Property Manager before transferring with the company to Denver. 

Emily brings experience in handling all aspects of property management for a large retail portfolio. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Merchandising and Consumer Studies from Louisiana Tech University in Ruston, LA.

Michael joined AmCap in 1996 and implements asset strategies, oversees budget preparation, supervises property management services and construction projects, and aids in the due diligence process for new acquisitions. He is a member of the firm’s Investment Committee and manages AmCap’s pending legal matters, including drafting contracts and other legal documents. Prior to AmCap, Michael worked as an attorney and has over 20 years of litigation experience in both the public and private sectors. 

Michael received his Juris Doctor from Potomac School of Law and a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Maryland. He is also a graduate of the Advanced Management Program at Harvard Business School.

Jay founded AmCap in 1979 and is its Chairman and Chief Executive Officer as well as a member of the firm’s Investment Committee. AmCap owns and operates supermarket-anchored shopping centers nationwide, with a current portfolio size of over 5.5 million square feet, with approximately $1 billion in total property value. Under his leadership, AmCap is widely regarded as a leader in US grocery-anchored retail. Jay is actively involved in all day-to-day company operations and is ultimately responsible for the strategic direction of AmCap. 

He received his Master of Business Administration from Harvard and graduated with a Bachelor of Science from the University of Rhode Island.

Karla Kantzas

Karla Kantzas

Karla has been with AmCap since 2006 and handles all accounting-related matters for eleven commercial properties nationwide. Previous to AmCap, Karla was the Assistant Controller and Membership Services Director at the Country Club of Darien and has worked as a tax advisor for H&R Block for over ten years. 

Karla earned her Associate in Science in Accounting from Housatonic Community College and holds certification as Senior Tax Advisor from H&R School of Tax. She is a registered member with the IRS – RTRP, NYTPR.

Faith joined AmCap in June 2015 and oversees the technical accounting and internal/external financial reporting process for the firm's property and investment entities. She manages the accounting department infrastructure and provides accounting, finance, and compliance support in new real estate transactions. Prior to joining AmCap, Faith was a senior member of the corporate finance team for McCourt Global, an investment company with real estate, sports, and media ventures in the US and abroad, leading tax planning, compliance, and infrastructure for the firm. She also spent over 10 years in public accounting at Citrin Cooperman, providing consulting, tax, and accounting services for businesses, primarily in the real estate industry.

Faith is a Certified Public Accountant and received a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from the State University of New York at Albany. She serves as Assistant Treasurer on the Board of Directors for Surprise Lake Camp, a non-profit summer camp located in Cold Spring, NY.

Jack joined AmCap in June 2014 as an analyst in the Acquisitions department. During undergraduate school, he worked at Holliday Fenoglio Fowler (HFF) in Denver with the Investment Sales team and interned at AmCap for a year. He was a key member of the first- and second-place teams at the USC Marshall International Real Estate Case Competition for 2013 and 2014 respectively.

Jack is a graduate of the University of Colorado at Boulder Leeds School of Business and holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with an emphasis in Finance. He currently serves as a member of the Connecticut Planning Committee for the ICSC Next Generation Program in addition to being active mentor with Big Brothers Big Sisters of SW Connecticut.

Jason joined AmCap in 2009 and heads development and strategy for AmCap. He is a member of the firm’s Investment Committee. Prior to AmCap, Jason was a Global Leadership Fellow with the World Economic Forum in Geneva and Davos, Switzerland, where he led the formation of China’s first mass international public private partnership. He began his career with Procter & Gamble, where he was one of the youngest Sales & Marketing team leaders in firm history. He was Head of Marketing at Aurarian Capital, a hedge fund focusing on intellectual property and clean energy.

Jason received his Master of Business Administration from MIT and a Bachelor of Science from Cornell University as a Joseph Granett Memorial Scholar. He was also a visiting student at St. Catherine’s College, Oxford University.

Alex joined AmCap in 1987 and sources real estate acquisitions for AmCap in the eastern United States. After practicing business law in Canada, he pursued real estate mergers, acquisitions, and financing projects in both Canada and the United States. Alex established a national network of institutional clients to which he sold real estate assets in excess of $400 million. He is a member of AmCap’s Investment Committee.

Alex received his degrees in economics and law from Queen’s University in Kingston, Ontario, Canada.

Kathy joined AmCap in 1987 and oversees the day-to-day operations in the Stamford corporate office. As a member of the Acquisitions department, she is instrumental to the due diligence process both when acquiring new properties and in the refinancing of existing ones. Kathy serves as the executive assistant to the office of the CEO and coordinates the maintenance of the company’s portfolio insurance. She has over 30 years of real estate experience, including prior work at Mellon Real Estate and the corporate banking division of U.S. Trust.

Avi joined AmCap in 1994 and heads AmCap’s construction management and redevelopment efforts. Prior to AmCap, Avi worked at Vinart Construction Company and built neighborhood and community shopping centers. In addition, he worked with Laketo Oil Company and built gas stations for Amoco, Jiffy Lube, and independent car wash centers. 

Avi holds a Bachelor of Science in Business and Construction Management from Newbury College and served as a member of the Israeli Air Force.

Jason joined AmCap in April 2016 as Property Accountant, handling accounting processes for nine commercial properties nationwide. He began his career at Townsquare Media as a staff accountant, where his duties included full cycle accounting and forecasting for the digital department, handling website updates, and forecasting future periods revenue.

Jason graduated from Western Connecticut State University with a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting.

Marsha Pukalo

Marsha joined AmCap in 1995 and is responsible for tenant work order requests, account payables and receivables, and tenant rent statements relating to AppleTree Business Park. In addition, she assists our corporate accounting department with various tasks for the Short Pump and Arbutus properties.

Lindsay joined AmCap in May 2014 as administrative assistant for the Accounting and Asset Management team at our Stamford office. She is currently our Lease Administrator; in this capacity, Lindsay is responsible for lease administration matters for nine properties and supports the Acquisitions department during due diligence processes with lease review. In addition, Lindsay serves as a point of contact for our investors, assists our asset managers with the handling of legal cases, and completes ad hoc projects and tasks.

Lindsay obtained her Juris Doctor from Western New England University and is licensed to practice law in Connecticut and New York. She graduated summa cum laude from Central Connecticut State University with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and dual minors in Criminal Justice and Sociology.

Ira joined AmCap in 1998 and oversees all leasing activity for the firm. A member of the firm’s Investment Committee, he has over 35 years of experience in the leasing, brokerage, development, and redevelopment of power, grocery-anchored and neighborhood retail shopping centers in markets throughout the country. Ira is highly regarded in the industry for his ability to improve the capital value of commercial properties and has developed a vast retail client base.

Ira attended the University of Colorado and is an active member of ICSC and the Urban Land Institute.

Ricki Singer

Ricki joined AmCap in 1980 and has been directly involved in the acquisitions of over 5.5 million square feet of real estate. In her capacity, she currently directs due diligence, heads lease negotiations for the company, and serves as a member of AmCap’s Investment Committee. In addition, Ricki leads special projects assignments at AmCap, including environmental monitoring and clean-ups and insurance administration.

Ricki is a graduate of Kalamazoo College.

Property Manager

Brenda joined AmCap in 1988 and, in her position as Property Manager, currently manages nearly one million square feet in Colorado.  She is a current board member of the Rocky Mountain Shopping Center Association; in addition, she was formerly a board member and remains a current member of the Institute of Real Estate Management.

Brenda holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from West Virginia University, with emphasis on Small Business Administration. She obtained her CPM accreditation in 2006.

Allison joined AmCap in November 2014 as an Administrative Assistant, primarily focusing on support for the general office and Accounting department. Previously, she practiced intellectual property law for Laureate International Universities; in this role, she reviewed and managed academic documents to be used for publishing purposes in the Laureate’s programs so as to avoid copyright violations.

Allison received her Bachelor of Law from Universidad Tecnológica Centroamericana (UNITEC), which was ranked as Honduras’ most prestigious private university.

Aaron joined AmCap’s Acquisitions department in 2013 to help source, evaluate, and execute investment opportunities. He is a member of the firm’s Investment Committee. Prior to AmCap, Aaron was at JER Partners’ Fund Investment Management Group, focusing on real estate acquisitions and asset management, and C-III Capital Partners' Commercial Mortgage Special Servicing Group. He also worked on merger, acquisition, and financing transactions at J.P. Morgan’s Investment Banking Division, Morgan Stanley’s Fixed Income Division, and Compass Advisers.

Aaron holds a Master of Business Administration from University of Chicago, a Bachelor of Science from Georgetown University, and a Graduate Certificate in Management from Harvard University. He is an active member of ICSC and PREA as well as a Co-Chair of the Chicago Booth Annual Real Estate Conference Advisory Board.
